Announcement Interim Director of YCBA
As President Peter Salovey prepares to return to the faculty this summer, the Office of the President is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Salovey as Interim Director of the Yale Center for British Art (YCBA), effective July 1, 2023.
Salovey is the Chris Argyris Professor of Psychology and former President of Yale University. He has been a member of the YCBA Advisory Board since 2014.
In his new role, Salovey will oversee the YCBA's operations and strategic planning. He will also work closely with the YCBA staff to develop new exhibitions and programs that showcase the center's world-renowned collection of British art.
"I am honored to serve as Interim Director of the Yale Center for British Art," said Salovey. "The YCBA is a vital part of the Yale community, and I am committed to building on its strengths and expanding its reach."
Salovey succeeds Amy Meyers, who stepped down as YCBA Director in June 2023 to become the Director of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The Yale Corporation will conduct a search for a permanent YCBA Director during the 2023-2024 academic year.
